Cecily Brown

Cecily Brown is a British painter born in London in 1969. She is regarded as one of several leading female contemporary painters, a group that also includes Jutta Koether, Amy Sillman, and Emily Sundblad. Her work combines representational and abstract elements in sensual depictions of expressive figures and nudes. Brown's work has attracted the attention of private art collectors including Elton John and Michael Ovitz. Her paintings are in the permanent collections of several important museums and institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY, and the Tate Gallery, London, UK. She currently lives and works in New York City.
